Google Counting Clicks?

Picture 3-10
I just noticed something interesting on Google. Upon searching for "USB to PCMCIA" I noticed the first result showed "2 visits" next to it. Wondering what this could be, I clicked on the page and then went back and reloaded the google page. It now said "3 visits."

I tried it again, but the counter remained at 3. My other computer isn't showing this, is it possible they are rolling something out on select data centers?

It's possible that it is some extension or something I have installed, but how is it counting other hits? Just while sitting here it went up to 4 hits. Then I reloaded again and it went back down to 3.

I restarted my browser, disabling a few extensions I thought might be causing it, and it went away. It now shows normally. I re-enabled my extension and restarted firefox again, and it still shows normally - no counter. Can anyone else see this or confirm that it is happening?

[...] Gthing has a post about Google counting clicks in the SERP’s on a few results - personally I think it’s just something that he’s got installed causing it but who knows, maybe he really did get a peek at a google glitch - we’ve seen our share of yahoo glitches recently. [...]

I can't recreate it anywhere. But I did witness it on your computer with my own two eyes.

Jonathan (not verified) says: it's part of google's

it's part of google's personalized home and such. I have the same thing happen. I think it's quite useful for when I'm searching for a particular website that I found in the past. if I clicked on it through google when I was logged on, it shows up. It does feel a bit big-brotherish, but It's google, so I don't really mind
